The end of fall commuting is near. I’ll miss the miles and miles of pavement, gravel and dirt.
Soon this water will be ice and snow.

The old Cedar Avenue Bridge project is being kicked off. This is great news for south metro commuters. It’s also great for hikers, bird watchers, riders and all folks who love the outdoors. Read details below.
I am pleased to invite you to join me and Governor Tim Pawlenty to celebrate the
2008 state infrastructure bond funding of the Old Cedar Avenue Bridge Project in
Bloomington on Tuesday, August 19th at 9:00 a.m. I want to thank the hundreds
of bikers, hikers, birders and nature enthusiasts who have worked with me on
this project. In addition to Governor Pawlenty, I also want to thank
Representative Alice Hausman and Senator Keith Langseth for their support. This
regional bikeway connected thousands of Minnesotans on both sides of the
Minnesota River until its closure due to safety concerns in 2002. This treasure
has been sorely missed by bicycle commuters, hikers, and everyday citizens who
have been left without access to the Minnesota River Valley. Thousands of
Minnesotans have begun biking to work and to their daily destinations and this
crossing has become more important then ever. Additionally, this project will
provide critical increased access for law enforcement purposes. Many of you know
that this crossing sits in the heart of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife National
Refuge and is renowned for its beauty, bird and wildlife biodiversity, bike
trail system plans, and access for all ages and abilities.
Please bike, hike or drive to join us! Everyone is welcome.
